Scottsdale’s Development Review Board recommended approval of two projects with 492 apartments, together named Mercado Courtyards. The city decided the development is compatible and beneficial, a good move considering “essential workers” and anyone who works within a mile of the site will get a 10 percent discount and a maximum five percent rent increase each year, and 10 percent of the units are set aside for seniors. The developer also added step-backs and several other changes based on public input.
