Politics Unplugged: Arizona’s Housing Crisis

Arizona is going through a housing crisis. It’s becoming unaffordable to both rent and buy a home in Phoenix and many people are getting priced out. Now two lawmakers—one republican and one democrat– are coming up with a solution. A bill working its way through the legislature would create a study committee to come up with solutions. Politics Unplugged interviewed the head of the Arizona Multihousing Association, which lobbied for the bill. Courtney LeVinus said while the bill would not provide immediate relief, it is a step in the right direction. She said 100,000 people move to the Phoenix metro annually and the solution is building more housing to solve the crisis.
