In another step toward solving the Arizona housing supply crisis, the Legislature passed bipartisan SB 1162, supported by the Arizona Multihousing Association. The measure mandates cities and towns to dispense with zoning changes within 180 days of a completed application. It also requires cities of greater than 30,000 to complete a housing needs assessment every five years and annually report to the Department of Housing the number of residential units submitted to the city for approval and how many homes were built and received certification for occupancy.
