Courtney Gilstrap LeVinus, president and CEO of the Arizona Multihousing Association, praised the efforts of Arizona policymakers in tackling the housing supply crisis by passing HB2297, in a recent op-ed in the Phoenix Business Journal. HB2297, which became law in April, will enable communities and developers to transform abandoned and underutilized strip malls and commercial spaces into new homes and apartments without getting bogged down in years of bureaucracy. LeVinus emphasized the numerous benefits of HB2997, such as creating over 150,000 new homes (with a minimum of 10% reserved for affordable housing), the growth of new construction, and the potential to increase local property values and tax revenue.
