Arizona’s Low Income Housing Tax Credit, set to expire this year, has spurred the construction of affordable homes statewide, especially in rural areas, without upfront cost to the state. The program has generated nearly $750 million in economic activity and over 4,500 construction jobs since 2021. Although the program’s extension was not approved in the recently signed budget bill, housing advocates urge lawmakers not to forget about it, citing successful developments like senior apartments in Globe and Centerline on Glendale.
