Phoenix-based Cavco Industries has broken ground on a 616,000-square-foot manufactured and modular home factory in El Mirage, expected to be operational by mid-2027 and designed to address the nation’s affordable housing shortage. The facility will primarily produce HUD-code manufactured homes, which Cavco sells at an average price of around $124,000 excluding land, making them among the most accessible homeownership options available. Cavco sold a company-record 34,745 factory-built modules in fiscal 2026, up 7.1% year-over-year, and currently employs about 7,700 people nationwide including roughly 600 at its Phoenix offices and Arizona plants.
