Housing Industry Pours Money Into Arizona Primary Elections

Homebuilders, apartment operators and real estate firms were among the largest spenders in Arizona’s July primary elections, backing candidates aligned with their legislative priorities after a session in which key housing bills failed. The Home Builders Association of Central Arizona spent nearly $25,000 opposing Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke, who led the League of Cities and Towns in blocking the Starter Homes Act, while the Arizona Multihousing Association spread funding across multiple legislative candidates.
