How ‘toxic’ is Scottsdale’s politics? Enough to scare off rental housing projects?

Scottsdale’s newly elected City Council has made headlines for political infighting and growing resistance to multifamily and rental housing projects, raising concerns among developers about doing business in the city.  Major employer Axon abandoned efforts to negotiate changes to its $1.3 billion housing project, citing the city’s “toxic” political climate. While some council members downplay the division, others warn that the internal conflicts could harm Scottsdale’s reputation and future growth.
