The extended U.S. conflict with Iran has disrupted what many expected to be a recovery for the housing market during the spring, pushing mortgage rates to 6.6% in just weeks and prompting buyers to pause or withdraw from purchases. Existing home sales fell 3.6% from February to March, and the National Association of Realtors cut its annual sales growth forecast from 14% to 4%.
