Harris County’s Justice of the Peace Precinct 1, Place 2 has reduced default eviction judgments and increased renter legal representation through its eviction diversion program, which educates renters about their rights and connects them to aid. The initiative, funded by national and state grants, has improved court access, strengthened housing stability and earned a 2024 Crown Communities Award.
