The primary election on July 21 provides an opportunity for voters to ensure pro-housing candidates advance to the general election and have a shot at making meaningful progress on housing reform in our state.
The Arizona Multihousing Association Political Action Committee (AMAPAC) has endorsed candidates across 25 legislative districts, six congressional districts and five city councils.
These are community leaders with proven commitments to expanding housing opportunities for all Arizonans.
Why does this election matter? Arizona families, seniors and veterans are feeling the pressure of limited housing supply because of outdated zoning codes, slow permitting processes and other regulations that needlessly delay construction.
Electing advocates for smart development, zoning modernization and streamlined permitting will allow homes to be built faster and drive down costs both for renters and home buyers.
Rental assistance programs, transit-oriented development and mixed-income housing policies don’t happen by accident.
They require champions in the Legislature, Congress and on city councils who understand that safe, quality housing at every income level is a foundation of thriving communities.
