The Mesa City Council unanimously approved a 3.1-acre development near Rio Salado Parkway and Cubs Way that will include a 54,700-square-foot hotel and a 36-unit residential building for seasonal Chicago Cubs minor league players. The five-story residential facility will feature a sports court, putting green, barbecue area and outdoor lounge. Supporters praised the addition of residential units in the area.
