Metrocenter Redevelopment Loses Homebuilder But Stays On Schedule

Oakwood Homes has withdrawn from the Metropolitan, the planned redevelopment of the former Metrocenter Mall site near Interstate 17 and Dunlap Avenue, citing insufficient Phoenix staffing to meet the project’s pace. But the developer says the departure will not affect the construction timeline. Concord Wilshire is narrowing a field of national homebuilders to take Oakwood’s place, aiming to select a partner in the coming weeks to build more than 1,000 townhome units, both rental and for-sale. Housing construction is set to begin in early 2027.
