New Federal Housing Law Takes Effect In Arizona

The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act became law July 11, giving Arizona and other states access to streamlined environmental reviews, modernized manufactured housing rules and new financing tools. Key provisions for Arizona include speeding up small and infill projects, eliminating the manufactured home chassis requirement and tying federal funding to local housing production. Analysts caution the law will not immediately lower prices or mortgage rates, as many provisions still require federal regulations to be created and policies to be implemented locally, but will improve affordability over time.
