Phoenix City Council declares Maryvale neighborhood blighted, calls for redevelopment

Phoenix leaders are calling for redevelopment of an area of Maryvale near 67th Avenue and Thomas Road.

Neighbors say they are concerned about pedestrian safety, lighting and illegal trash dumping. The City Council voted unanimously to declare the area blighted and work with The NRP Group on a proposal to build affordable apartments.
