U.S. Census data released in May bore out what locals already knew: Pinal County is a hotbed for housing starts, growing 3.5 percent from July 2021 to July 2022. And Maricopa County was the fastest-growing county by population in the nation, with Phoenix falling just short of Fort Worth to be the second-fastest-growing city. All these new neighbors need homes, and Maricopa and Pima County are trying to provide them. Maricopa added 28,051 housing units in 2022 and Pinal added 6,347. With more jobs going to Pinal County, more housing growth is expected.
