Shope sets sights on rental communities, Hoffman claims communism

State Sen. T.J. Shope is pushing legislation to regulate water usage in single-family rental home communities, which currently bypass Arizona’s 100-year assured water supply requirements. Shope argues this loophole gives an unfair advantage to rental developers over traditional homebuilders. The proposal drew heated criticism from Rep. Jake Hoffman, who labeled the effort as “communism.”
