A former Food City grocery store at Apache Boulevard and Dorsey Lane in Tempe was demolished to make way for the Dorsey Station affordable housing complex, a 400-unit mixed-income development where 90% of units will be income-restricted. The city spent nearly $11 million to acquire the site to prevent it from becoming luxury apartments, and construction is expected to begin in winter 2026-27 with residents moving in by late 2028. A ground-floor grocery store will also be included.
