The Arizona Starter Homes Act, now in its second year of negotiations at the state Legislature, would limit the restrictions cities and towns can enforce on housing development such as design features, building materials and sizes. Proponents say simpler regulations will allow more housing to be built at affordable price points for Arizona families.
Hundreds of people have signed in to support the bill in the House and Senate, but Gov. Katie Hobbs has not yet indicated if she will sign the legislation if it passes.
